BEYOND THE CORPS
Here in Memphis, we believe that committing to teach at least two years in our city is a transformational experience in leading children to a lifetime of choice and equity. Our alumni in Memphis are a force of leaders at every level—teachers, school leaders, school system leaders, and civic and cultural advocates. Their diverse backgrounds and leadership experiences are unified by one singular vision: that all children deserve no less than an exceptional teacher and educational experience. Our alumni teach in classrooms, lead schools, advocate for change and innovate solutions to our city’s biggest problems.
The Teach For America – Memphis alumni leadership team plays a critical role to cultivate and activate the leadership of alumni in order to ensure equity of opportunity of students in Memphis. We support alumni to develop their personal, professional and collective leadership in the areas that they believe are most critical.
BY THE NUMBERS
Our students, schools, communities and people are in the midst of an incredible moment in time that’s providing a real opportunity to make significant change for kids and for our city.
We must work from the theory of action that our sustained, excellent effort over time will yield transformational change for students in Memphis.
